Drawn on skull

So today I got a phone call from Kevin, one of our regulars. He said he wanted to get a skull on his leg to go with the little reaper and sword I did a few months ago   He said he wasn't picky and didn't have a budget. So I drew on this skull and monster hand with flames. I think it came out pretty damned cool.

It took about 2 hours or so to tattoo. This was a lot of fun. Hopefully I get to do more stuff like this in the immediate future.

I also did this boat on the boat of this girls neck. She handled it really well, and the end result is pretty nifty.

Sorry this post is so brief, but I'm fried. Have a good night, and thanks for looking.

Gotta keep moving...

So my wife is rejoining the work force as of tomorrow morning, so I get to hang with my son a LOT more in the near future. Thats the good news.

The shit news is that my schedule is gonna get all sorts of weird over the next few weeks while we attempt to iron out the details of this new development. And due to my newly established schedule I've been overbooking myself to make up for all the time off i'm going to be taking.

The silver lining to that cloud is that I get to crank out a lot of new big work. I will do my best to keep this blog updated with photos, even if they're only progress shots.

Did this tiger over three sessions came out pretty great. Loosely based off of one of my small paintings.

This is the second session on this fruit bat eating a peach on Josh from Redscroll Records in Wallingford. one more session to go.

Painted this koi fish over the course of last night and this morning. The white highlights were done as an afterthought because the whole painting was way too dark without them.

Rose painting

Did this rose painting today due to a no-show. It's a weird size. Hopefully I can sell it at Harvest Fest the week after next.

Attempting to Paint

So it's getting harder and harder to make myself paint these days. Since Henson was born my art production rate has steadily declined, which of course is quite acceptable considering how little he sleeps.

I cranked out this 5x7 skull painting the other night in between Henson's night wakings. I did it on Stonehenge brand art paper with a brush and ink. I haven't brush lined much of anything in awhile, so I feel like the linework could have been better, hence all the heavy black. The handle in particular was pretty fucked and I would actually love this piece if not for that one glaring issue. I've never done a painting in this illustrative style before, and I think i'm gonna try to do some more. Thanks for looking!

A few new pieces

I just got back from my guest spot at Mooncusser Tattoo in Provincetown a week ago, and my schedule has been balls-to-the-wall crazy with various tattoo projects. It's hard keeping up but I'm doin my best.

I did this rosary on Dayna about a week ago. She wanted it black and grey with the beads tinted red. I threw some white highlights in there just to give it a bit more pop in some areas. Not exactly my comfort zone but I think it came out great.

I started this iris and butterflies tattoo on Stan a few weeks ago. Black is all healed, color is fresh. There's another butterfly on the back side of the iris as well.

Tattooed this lettering on Jinelle before I left for Provincetown. I've been working on my lettering lately and have been tryin to step up my game. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. Hopefully I get to do more like this one in the future.

And finally here's a shot of my buddy Oldden's backpiece. This is the first session, about 3 or so  hours of linework. There's a bit more texture to be added next session, some scales in the Wyrm...bit this is what we got done today. The main focus of the project is the three Norns, or three Fates, spinning the thread of life. The tree behind them is Yggsdrasil, the World Tree of Norse Mythology. The Wyrm at the bottom is Nidhogger, the dragon who chews at the roots of the World Tree. There are four stags (among other animals) that live in Yggsdrasil, but I took some liberties and did stag skulls instead and bordered it off with scrollwork. Here's a few detail shots.

I'm looking forward to working on this one again.

Pegasus tattoo

Finished this Pegasus tattoo on Sylvia's thigh today. I based it off an old huck spaulding flash design. Two sessions, about 2 hours each. She sits SUPER well, and I'm really pleased with the results.

Yokai on the mind

So I haven't had very many opportunities to tattoo Japanese stuff lately, and I've had even less opportunities to do some cool yokai stuff. I love Japanese demons and ghosts and such, so I pulled out my Kyosai book and began looking for cool demons that I thought would make fun one shot pieces and started drawing up some cool little guys to tattoo.

This guy is the first one I've done so far. Im Speculating that He's some sort of kitchen spirit due to the bowl on his head. Took me about 2 hours to do. Lined with a 3 and shaded with a 14 round. Thanks Eric!

Also got to shade some of Jay Garry's chest piece. Black is done, color next time.

A few new pieces

Skull and rose tattoo I did the other day on Chris. This was one of my "free with cash tip" deals that i did to fill a schedule gap. I wanted to do kind of an odd color scheme with it and I dig how it came out.

Started this fruit bat on Josh from Redscroll Records in Wallingford. They deal in new and used vinyl and specialize in a lot of metal and hardcore stuff. Very cool shop.

Outlined this parrot on Erica from Mass a few weeks ago. Can't wait for color. I also did the lily and butterfly at the top left, but not the skull and rose below it. Those were done in Hawaii and I don't know the name of the shop or artist, even though she's told me a million times.

Also I will be traveling to Mooncusser Tattoo in Provincetown Mass at the end of this month. I'll be there for about five days or do for some fishing, tattooing, an partying with their crew. Kevin Berube from The newly opened Sharktank Tattoo in Easthampton Mass will be rolling out with me. Contact Mooncusser if you want to get in for an appointment.

Thanks!
